A Message from our President…
Hello Everyone.
Welcome to our January HPAC newsletter. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. We have finally made it to a new year. Let’s hope 2009 brings us all Health, Wealth and Great Fishing!!
Our December Grouper Tournament was a great success! We had more Groupers weighed in at this tournament than any I can remember in the past. It’s really good to see the Grouper population on the rise. Hopefully that will continue to do nothing but get better. Our upcoming tournament is always one of our biggest of the year. We will be after Sea Trout. We always have a great turnout for this one as Trout are readily available this time year and right here in our back yard. It is also a tournament within a tournament. All of our new members that joined in 2008 will be eligible to compete for the New Member Trophy. Be sure to see our Tournament Director Capt. Tom at the meeting to get signed up for this one!
I would like to thank Vance Tice for doing our rigging table and giving us a great seminar on catching inshore Grouper at our December meeting. Vance is one of the best at it and I know we all learned a lot! Great Job Vance! You can reach Vance at Tightlines Tackle in Tampa @813-932-4721.
Our Christmas Party was once again the event of the season! We had a huge attendance and a good time was had by all. We thank everyone who came and helped make it special. I would also like to thank the people who contributed the prizes for our drawing; Capt Joe Hebert of Fish On Lures, Capt. Neil Taylor of Adventure Kayak Fishing, the HPAC, Gene Vaverchak, the Thirsty Marlin, Capt. Tom Goodwin and last, but not least, Stingray Embroidery! Also, special thanks to Bill Earle, Ron Cox and our special helper Sarah from the Thirsty Marlin for helping to make the event a success! The Thirsty Marlin again provided us with Great Service, Great Food and Great Entertainment, as always. I can’t wait for next year’s party!
Our speaker this month is going to be our very own, Capt Joe Hebert of Fish on Lures. You may also know him as Stinky Joe. Joe is very knowledgeable and will have some great tips on catching the winning Trout! Joe will also be running our rigging table from 6:45 until 7:30 before the general meeting Be sure to come and enjoy and learn from Capt Joe!
This months meeting will also be your last chance to get your tickets for our banquet being held on January 24th at the Dunedin Country Club. We will have Dinner, Dancing, Prizes, Awards and much much more. Don’t miss this yearly extravaganza! Be sure to see our newly re-elected Vice President Randy Poppert to get signed up.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome aboard our new board members: Mike Jewell, Ted Schoelkof, Ken D’Ambrosio and Keith Stanton. I, as well as the rest of the HPAC Board of Directors and membership, appreciate your contribution in helping to keep this the great family fishing club that is.
We have some new and exciting club events coming up this year that we will be sharing with you as the year progresses. So if you haven’t yet renewed your membership, be sure to see Gene Proulx, our Membership Director, at the meeting.
