President's Message

Ray Williams January 2011

A Message from our President…

Happy New Year and welcome to our January newsletter.  I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.  I wanted thank everyone for re-electing me as your president for another 2 tear term.  It has been an honor for me to hold this position for the past 4 years and I look forward to 2 more great years.  We really have some great things planned for the upcoming year.

Our Grouper Tourney was a great success last month.  Congrats to Leon, Jimmy Mac, Jack, Teo and Dan for binging in the top 5 Groupers and to Peckerhead who caught the biggest Lizard fish.  This month we will be after Sea Trout.  This is usually one of our biggest tournaments and the Trout are readily available on our flats this time of year.  If I recall correctly, Mike Jewell won this one from shore last year!  Be sure to see Capt. Tom at the meeting to get all the details and to get signed up.  Don’t forget we are paying the top 5 places now and that the weigh-in is at 4:00 PM.  This month’s 4th and 5th place will be sponsored by Sonny’s BBQ Restaurant and the Teo Award will be sponsored by the Thirsty Marlin.

Special thanks to Captain Billy Nobles who did a great job as our guest speaker last month.  You can reach Capt. Billy at www.captainbillynobles.com or 813-299-5563 should you want to contact him and maybe book a charter.

This month’s guest speaker will be Emily Muelhstein of the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council.  She will talk to us about the rules and regulations and answer any questions that you may have.

Last month’s dinner out was our Annual Christmas Party at the Thirsty Marlin in Palm Harbor.  Everyone had a great time as always!  The Thirsty Marlin does a great job for us!  We had 107 people attend and everyone got a gift!  Two (2) lucky people even won $117.00 each from the 50/50 drawing.  Our dinner out this month will be at a new restaurant just recently opened called Marley’s Monster Grill and Pizza.  These folks are from Philly and you can really tell when you try their Philly Cheesesteak!  They are located in the Hercules Plaza on US19 north just south of Curlew Road.  They are on the east side of US19 in a free standing building.  The dinner will be on Tuesday, January the 18th.  I would also like to welcome Marley’s as a new advertiser with the HPAC.  They are advertising in both our newsletter and on our website, so let’s all come out and show them our support!  We will begin as usual around 6:30pm.  Guests are always welcome.  Please RSVP to me if you plan to attend.  See You There!

Don’t forget to get those wood framed fishing pictures to Bill at the Fat Cat Tavern and he will add them to the “HPAC Wall of Fame.”

Please remember to support our advertisers whenever possible.  They not only help to make our great Newsletter and Website possible, but they also offer club member’s great discounts!
